Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to receive the vents? We can ship most standard floor vents in about a week. Exotic species, Egg Crate, Base Vents, High Velocity, and prefinishing take a little longer.

How do I know what size I need? You know the saying:  Measure twice. Order once!
Measure the opening in your floor, wall or ceiling. The width and length of your opening should match closely to the duct opening sizes. All vents come standard 3/4" thickness.  the only exception would be bamboo which is 5/8".

What species of wood do you offer? Our vents are manufactured in Red Oak, White Oak, Quartersawn Sawn White Oak, Quartersawn Red Oak, Maple, Beech, Birch, Ash, Hickory, Fir, Cherry, Walnut, Bamboo, Brazilian Cherry, Santos Mahogany, Brazilian Teak, Brazilian Walnut, Amendoim, Alder, Austrailian Cypress, Purple Heart, Red Birch, Tauari, Southern Chesnut, Wenge, Tiete Rosewood, Southern Yellow Pine, Eastern White Pine, Merbau, Tigerwood, Lyptus, Cedar, and Antique Heart Pine

What is a Insert vent?A Insert Vent is one that sits on the surface of an installed floor. It rims the floor much like the metal vents.

What is a flush-mount vent?A flush-mount vent sits flush with 3/4" hardwood floor. It is strongly recommended that this vent be installed with the hardwood floor.

What is a egg Crate style?A Egg Crate style is a vent that is usually much larger than a standard heating vent. These are usually used as a large cold air return vent

How do I finish the unfinishedvents?

Sand all surfaces lightly with fine grit sandpaper. Do not use steel wool as it tends to shed fibres that stick to the grain and ruin a smooth finish. Stain all surfaces of the register: top, ends and louvers to the desired colour. No need to finish the back of the vent as it is sealed at the factory.
1. Allow to dry thoroughly.
2. Apply three coats of desired finish to all surfaces with a light sanding in between.
3. Allow to dry thoroughly

Do I really need an air flow damper? Some areas of your home may require an air flow regulator. This is why most all standard size louvered vents come with the option.

Can these register be walked on?It is not recommended that you use wooden floor vents in high traffic areas.  Larger vents are not designed to carry full load weight of a person.

What is your return policy? All of our Egg Crate, Baseboard, HighVelocity, and PreFinished Vents are made to order and unfortunatly are not returnable. Because all our vents are custom in nature, they will only be returned on a case by case basis.
